Founded six years ago in Paris, Back Market is the world’s first online marketplace dedicated exclusively to second-hand devices. Similar to how Airbnb aggregates homeowners and travelers on one trusted platform to draw economic value from a previously underutilized asset — vacant living spaces — Back Market connects certified professionals specializing in the refurbishing and resale of used electronics with consumers looking for a more affordable, reliable, and environmentally-friendly alternative to buying new.

Back Market, already present in the US and the EU (UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Austria and Belgium), is the leader in the refurbished electronics and appliances market segment. With an $80bn market segment size and growing fast, the refurbished electronics and appliances market segments represent a huge growth opportunity for Back Market. And we’re only getting started as there are still 8 times more products sold as new than refurbished today. In 2020 Back Market launched 3 new EU countries with plans to launch more in 2020 and 2021.

A key lever to achieve this, is to create customer re(buy) services that improve our conversion & repeat rate.We will launch in march 2020 a first extended warranties and breakage insurance to customers, removing a barrier to buy refurbished products. We expect to manage more than 300 000 new contracts (full year) by the end of 2021 in our core countries.

To help us achieve the ambitious goals, we are looking to an intern to work within the Operations team in the quality Business unit, where you will directly report  to our Senior Insurance Manager !

(The role is based in Paris or Bordeaux.)

You will...

  • Launch our new breakage  & theft insurance (in EU & US) that meet our Back market DNA & our customer centric approach.
  • Run the warranty services  and will own its P&L and monitor  our customer experience requirements
  • Enrich our customers insurance offers to improve our repeat rate & the loyalty  and cover all our products ranges (gaming, wearable,...)
  • Develop a range of B2B insurances for all our merchants to cover their business risks (warranty extension, purchase, delivery, Buyback…).
  • Work on our Quality Program call “Back Label” to spread quality on
  • Participate to the creation & test of our Loyalty program
  • We're looking for someone who is..

  • Coming from a commercial/business university program & looking for a 6-month internship for a gap year or graduation
  • Experience in a consumer fintech is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication (French & English). You will be part of an international team and may be required to work with merchants or colleagues who do not speak French
  • A real attraction for project management
  • Strong organizational skills and rigorousness
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, you always look to exceed expectations
  • You are proactive, organized and you have high capacity to federate and work with transversal teams.
