Merchant & Sales Enablement Manager

  • Contract Type: Full-Time
  • Location: New York, United States ()

Founded in November 2014 and recognized by Fast Company as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies in 2019, Back Market is the leading online marketplace dedicated to refurbished products.

Our mission is to create a mainstream appeal for refurbished products, and, as a result, extend the life cycle of electronic devices and reverse rampant e-waste (over 50 million tons of e-waste were created in 2018 alone!)

In the span of fewer than 5 years, Back Market has prevented the equivalent of 30 Statues of Liberty of e-waste from ending up in landfills, all while generating over half a billion dollars in yearly sales and growing at an annual 150%. We’ve raised over $60M to date and have a profitable business model, making us well-positioned to sustain our hyper-growth trajectory and become the global leader in selling refurbished products.

Job Description

As a marketplace, Back Market services two customers: the Seller and the Buyer. In this role, you will have two customers, too: the Sellers and the Sales Team. Your mission will be to create and maintain all the necessary tools to help our Sales team attract, support, and educate our Sellers. Back Market aims to be the easiest-to-use marketplace on the web!

Over the past two years, we have grown our presence in the US, and much of our external messaging and internal processes have been adapted from our founding team in France. As our growth rockets upward, we are ready to invest in our first US-based team member focused on enabling the continued success of both our marketplace sellers and our internal sales team. Reporting to the Head of Business Development in the US, and partnering with the Content Marketing team in Europe, you will work closely with our Business Development team to build a voice and communication strategy unique to our growing US Seller base. Additionally, you will be in charge of creating internal training materials designed to enable our sales team and optimize their performance.

  • Educate our Seller base:
  • Build strong FAQ content that will enable sellers to gain more autonomy
  • Enable services and tools for Sellers to promote their store on Back Market
  • Promote the Back Market brand:
  • Plan, program and execute approximately 12 B2B webinars annually
  • Build and write our monthly newsletter, sent to Sellers
  • Create a blog about sellers best practices and industry insights
  • Support our sales reps:
  • Manage the development of best-in-class marketing collateral (pitch decks, videos, one pagers, website content, FAQs, Product Guides, etc.)
  • Leverage data to provide the team with key insights to help convert leads
  • Onboard and optimize:
  • Train new team members on Back Market Value proposition
  • Educate the team on new sales tools
  • Enable any Back Maker to understand and deliver the Back Market sales pitch

Preferred Experience

  • Strong track record in sales and management. You have shown a great ability to convince the most reluctant leads thanks to persistence and top quality insights. You are a natural leader and a fantastic team player and you have shown it on the pitch.
  • Effective communication skills. Can you explain Back Market to a third grader? In other words, can you break down a complicated concept to an audience that has absolutely no context or technical expertise on the subject?
  • Passionate storyteller. You have a demonstrated history in working in various content formats, including eBooks, case studies, white papers, blog posts, website copy, and more.
  • Attention to detail. You enjoy getting into the nitty-gritty; “spot the difference” is your favorite game.
  • Data management & visualization. Tableau/SQL skills would be a strong advantage.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of writing or editing experience. A background in B2B-focused topics a plus
  • Understanding of SEO. You can leverage keyword research in content development
  • Curious. Passionate about staying up to date with the marketing industry (specifically B2B) needs, news, research, technology, and trends
  • Language. Spanish / French speaker would be a plus
