The role and team:

Within the Brand team you will be in charge of leading Back Market’s press relations in the United States, reporting to our Press Relations Manager in France. Your main goal will be to make the media talk about us and raise awareness on the relevance of refurbishment, both environmentally and economically, and build a strong long term relationship with key journalists there. Working with our Public Affairs manager in the US and our Head of Communications, you will establish Back Market as a strong brand and one of the biggest/most trusted voices in the refurbished industry, but also on the right to repair and the circular economy.

You will work in close cooperation with your manager based in France and interact with our US General Manager, Head of Communications and Public Affairs Manager.

Your mission:

  • Develop localized PR strategies to drive brand awareness, promote our brand activations, our expertise and protect our corporate brand
  • Brief and manage external agencies in the US, the UK and Ireland for successful support and execution
  • Creatively and strategically deliver major news announcements ensuring strong key message and maximum impact
  • Draft global communications messaging and presentation materials for local spokespeople and creating thought leadership positioning in the media
  • Develop the company’s local spokesperson roster, mapping subject matter experts with key business priorities and messaging goals/ be a pillar for local spokespersons
  • Use your US journalists network to increase Back Market’s presence in the biggest American media and ensure that our C-levels have privileged contacts with key journalists
  • Onboard Back Market management and team members to achieve your goals
  • Write/develop and manage approvals for a variety of media materials, briefing materials, assets and owned content.
  • You're in the right place if:

  • You have 5 to 8 years of experience in press relations in the U.S. (including at least 3 years in a press relations agency)
  • You have a strong experience in both Consumer and Corporate subjects
  • You have a strong capability of working autonomously
  • You have high-judgment, excellent English communication skills, exemplary writing/verbal ability, exceptional initiative, and a talent for effectively managing projects. 
  • You are use to work under tight deadlines and you are flexible/reactive as priorities change and you use to manage multiple projects and issues without losing your temper
  • You are creative, able to develop hooks/angles/campaigns that will be of interest to press
  • You have a deep understanding and knowledge of the U.S. media (knowledge of the media landscape in the UK is a plus)
  • A strong bias for action and ability to work closely with communications teams, legal team, executive management and external stakeholders
