    Within the Brand team, reporting to our Senior Press Relations Manager in France, you will be in charge of leading Back Market’s press relations in Germany. Your main goals will be to make the media talk about us in order to raise awareness on the relevance of refurbishment, both environmentally and economically, and build a strong long term relationship with key journalists there. Working with our Public Affairs manager in Germany and our Head of communications, you will establish Back Market as a thought leader and strong brand as one of the biggest/most trusted voices in the refurbished industry, and also on the right to repair and the circular economy.

    You will work in close cooperation with your manager based in our Paris HQ and interact with Martin, our General Manager for Germany, Alexandra, our Head of Communications for Germany and Austria, and Tilhman, our public affairs managers in Berlin.

    YOUR MISSION (IF YOU ACCEPT IT): 🥇

  • Develop localized PR strategies to drive category and brand awareness, promote our brand activations, our expertise and protect our corporate brand
  • Brief and manage external press relations agencies in Germany and Austria (and recruit potential other PR agencies  as we keep growing), for successful support and execution
  • Creatively and strategically deliver major news announcements ensuring strong key message and maximum impact
  • Draft global communications messaging and presentation materials for local spokespeople and creating thought leadership positioning in the media
  • Develop the company’s local spokesperson roster, mapping subject matter experts with key business priorities and messaging goals/ be a pillar for local spokespersons
  • Use your German journalists network to increase Back Market’s presence in the biggest german media and ensure that our C-levels have privileged contacts with key journalists
  • Onboard Back Market’s management and team members to achieve your goals
  • Write/develop and manage approvals for a variety of media materials, briefing materials, assets and owned content

  • You are a German native speaker
  • You have 5 to 8 years of experience in press relations in Germany (including at least 3 years in a press relations agency)
  • You have a strong experience in both Consumer and Corporate subjects
  • You have a strong capability of working autonomously
  • You have high-judgment, excellent communication skills, exemplary writing/verbal ability, exceptional initiative, and a talent for effectively managing projects
  • You are used to working under tight deadlines and you are flexible/reactive as priorities change and you use to manage multiple projects and issues without losing your temper
  • You are creative, able to develop hooks/angles/campaigns that will be of interest to press
  • You have a deep understanding and knowledge of German media (knowledge of the media landscape in Austria is a plus)
  • You have a strong bias for action and ability to work closely with communications  and legal teams, executive management and external stakeholders
